Sancerre, France
The white wines of Sancerre are among the world’s most celebrated Sauvgnon Blanc wines. Situated on the left bank of the Loire at the eastern edge of the Loire Valley. Vineyards cover a series of hillsides dominated by the “Piton” or peak of Sancerre. There are three primary soil types: Terres Blanches (“white earth”) is compact chalk atop kimmeridgean marl is characteristic of the western part of the region; Les Caillottes is gravel and limestone; and Silex (flint) is found in the eastern vineyards.

Pouilly-Fumé, France
Across the Loire river from Sancerre, Pouilly Fume is based around the town of Pouilly-sur-Loire. The wines share a distinct similarity to their cousins across the river and are usually fuller, perfumed, and firmer with more mineral qualities due to the limestone soils the vineyards are on. The best wines of Pouilly-Fumé are usually made from vineyards located north of Pouilly on the slopes above the Loire.

Ballard Canyon, California
Self-described Syrah territory located in the Santa Ynez Valley. With steep hillsides, its soil quickly gives way to limestone—and the fog from the ocean burns away earlier in the day, allowing for warm and sunny Santa Barbara days.

Santa Rita Hills, California
Milder climate and rocky terrain makes for the perfect land to produce grapes fit for a delicious Pinot Noir. Located on the southwestern edge of Santa Rita Hills is an awe-inspiring vineyard site known as Bentrock. The Pinot Noir planted here has the opportunity to ripen slowly, allowing flavor development to occur in slow unison. This leads to deep and concentrated wines for you and your loved ones to enjoy!

THE VINEYARDS

Domaine Des Berthiers • Pouilly-Fumé, France
The Dagueneau vineyards are situated in the terroir called Les Berthiers in the village of Saint-Andelain. Previous owner was world famous Jean Claude Dagueneau one of the key driving personalities of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. These Pouilly-Fume vineyards are located on the siliceous hillside south west overlooking the Loire River and offer some of the best-drained soils, with excellent exposure in the appellation. The wine itself sees a short period of skin contact before being slowly cold fermented for 3-4 weeks. It is then aged to give the wine an added depth and a bit of smokiness.

Stolpman Vineyards • Ballard Canyon, California
Set on a rare Limestone outcropping, unobstructed from the Pacific Ocean wind, this vineyard is seemingly hidden away in the hills of California’s Central Coast. Ideally suited to grow Syrah and Roussanne grapes, Stolpman Vineyards is committed to preserving this natural environment for their vines through natural farming, dry farming, & sustainable employment. Native fermentation & minimal manipulation is favored in this winery, making for naturally vibrant wines.

Bentrock Vineyards • Santa Rita Hills, California
Located on the southwestern edge of California’s Santa Rita Hills is a vineyard known as Bentrock. Blasted daily by cold ocean winds, Bentrock provides the Pinot Noir planted in its soils the opportunity to ripen slowly, allowing flavor development to deepen over time. This leads to rich, concentrated wines that you’ll be sure to enjoy.
